The
Hugh Michael Beahan Foundation is housed on the second floor
of St. Andrew's School for the sole purpose of providing scholarship
support to those who truly want to attend St. Andrew's but cannot
afford the full cost to educate. Because of HMBF's support,
St. Andrew's is recognized as the school committed to bringing
racial and economic harmony together in the heart of the city
- and one that is also ready to go head on with the top districts
in the area for academics - still serving some of our city's
neediest kids. HMBF is allowing at-risk children an opportunity
to make a difference and come back to contribute to the community
for years to come.
St. Andrew’s
student body reflects the economic diversity of the Grand Rapids
community. Approximately one-third of our students are from
the community’s economically poorest families, and one-third
of our students come from families of limited means. These families
receive scholarship support determined by family income.
The miracles
of HMBF: 30 families at St. Andrew’s have an annual income of
less than $30,000; some make less than $10,000. These families
account for 51 students who are on substantial scholarships.
If a parent desires this education for their child, HMBF will
help open the doors of St. Andrew’s to them. |
