I have been at St. Andrew's since 1985,
first as the preschool and kindergarten aid, and then as a teacher. I
have been the first grade teacher since December of 1991.
I graduated from Western Michigan
University in 1985 with a degree in communications. After getting
hired as an aid at St. Andrew's for what I thought would be one year,
I realized that the classroom was where I wanted to stay. I got my
teaching certificate 6 years later and have been enjoying the first
graders ever since.
My philosophy is to "shoot for the stars".
I provide the students with lots of exciting, age appropriate
activities that can be extended for those who require more of a
challenge. I believe that if I'm not excited by an activity, my
students mustn't be either, so I'm always looking for new and
interesting ways to extend the curriculum.
I
am married and have one son. I enjoy camping in the summer,
tap and Hawaiian dancing, and decorating Ukrainian easter
eggs (pysanky). |
